Home singing tips

It appears that everyone enjoys singing. Even the most ungifted singers are overcome with an uncontrollable urge to burst into song every so often. Singing at home is a fantastic way to improve your singing because you feel comfortable and at ease. Of course, you will need professional guidance to mold and develop your skills, if you want to become the kind of singer you’ve always dreamed about. If you’ve always wanted to be a great singer, but lack the necessary skills, then this article about singing at home is for you.

The benefits of learning how to sing from home
Most aspiring singers believe they need private vocal coaching to learn to sing well. Admittedly private lessons and singing school are great ways to learn to sing, but unfortunately for most people it’s a luxury they can’t afford. The good news is that home singing lessons offer a great alternative to expensive private lessons are an extremely effective way to improve your voice. In most cases singing at home will also be the most convenient option. Here are some of the advantages of singing at home:

  • You can schedule your singing training when it suits you best.
  • You get to take things at a pace you’re comfortable with.
  • There’s no pressure to impress anyone, which makes learning easier.
  • You get to repeat the lessons as often as you need to.
  • You can save bundles and still get to learn from the best of the best vocal coaches.

With so many great reasons to start learning to sing at home, hopefully you’re already convinced. Still have your doubts? Well, allow me to respond to some of the common concerns people tend to have about learning to sing at home: (For more info check out this practice singing at home article.)

Where is the best place to practice?
Anywhere where you can be alone and concentrate is a good place to practice singing. Ideally you should have a area that you can leave set up for your singing practice so it’s easier to get started.

When to practice singing at home?
My recommendation is to schedule your singing for a specific time each day. It doesn’t matter whether you sing early or later in the day. Just try and find the most convenient time for you when there are less distractions and you can concentrate.

How long should I practice singing?
Just how long you practice your singing will depend on your experience and skill. If you’re a beginner then 15 – 20 minutes a day will be fine. As your singing improves and your voice gets stronger, you can start increasing this to about 30 – 60 minutes. But bear in mind that a focused 20 minute home singing practice session is much better than 60 minutes of unfocused practice. Also short regular practice are better than fewer marathon sessions. And don’t strain your voice. If it gets tired, then rest it.

Tips for singing at home
The best advice I can give you is to stop making excuses and just get started. If you’re short of space, then practice in the basement. Pressed for time? Then practice your vocal drills in the car to work or school. Don’t allow yourself to be held back. Persevere and you’ll mature into an amazing singer.

Madonna Like A Prayer Meaning

Madonna’s “Like a Prayer,” condemned by Christian organizations as blasphemous upon its release in 1989, has topped a poll of videos which “broke the rules”. “Like a Prayer” was her most explicit artistic statement in 1984. She incorporated dance, pop rock soul and funk elements all in the album.

She chose the title track as the first single. When it came out, Pepsi intended to use it as part of their commercial campaign featuring Madonna as the spokesperson. In addition, they would sponsor a 1989 world tour. However, the release of the video for “Like A Prayer” caused much controversy. In it, Madonna witnesses a murder, makes love to a saint, displays stigmata after cutting her palms on a knife, and dances in a field of burning crosses.

Religious groups were furious and threatened to boycott Pepsi. Pepsi decided the risk was too great and they canceled their contract with Madonna. The Pepsi clip featured the portion of the video which shows the singer dancing around the hill with burning crosses and kissing a black Christ-like figure in what is apparently a Catholic church. It came first in a survey of 10 thousand MTV viewers, with Madonna’s songs Ray of Light and Vogue also in the top five. Madonna, one of the icons of the MTV age – has been excluded from the network’s play list on more than one occasion because of the content of her videos and lyrics in her songs.

The following are parts of the the lyrics to Like A Prayer:

“just like a muse to me”, Definition: muse: a force or person, esp. a woman, that inspires a creative artist So just who or what that is giving her the inspiration (muse) to her? It’s clearly blasphemous, so I’ll leave that for you to decide.

“no end and no beginning” – clearly Alpha and Omega … “no choice your voice can take me there” – good ole’ predestination …

“oh god I think I’m falling out of the sky I close my eyes, heaven help me”: Perhaps this feeling has been experienced in the past of falling out of the sky? Fallen. Hm. The actual lyrics are as follows:

The actual lyrics are as follows:

Like A Prayer – Madonna

When you call my name it’s like a little prayer I’m down on my knees, I wanna take you there In the midnight hour I can feel your power Just like a prayer you know I’ll take you there

When you call my name it’s like a little prayer I’m down on my knees, I wanna take you there In the midnight hour I can feel your power Just like a prayer you know I’ll take you there

I hear your voice, it’s like an angel sighing I have no choice, I hear your voice Feels like flying I close my eyes, Oh God I think I’m falling Out of the sky, I close my eyes Heaven help me

When you call my name it’s like a little prayer I’m down on my knees, I wanna take you there In the midnight hour I can feel your power Just like a prayer you know I’ll take you there

Like a child you whisper softly to me You’re in control just like a child Now I’m dancing It’s like a dream, no end and no beginning You’re here with me, it’s like a dream Let the choir sing

Life is a mystery, everyone must stand alone I hear you call my name, and it feels like home

Just like a prayer, I’ll take you there It’s like a dream to me Just like a prayer, I’ll take you there It’s like a dream to me Just like a prayer, I’ll take you there It’s like a dream to me Just like a prayer, I’ll take you there It’s like a dream to me

Just like a prayer, your voice can take me there Just like a muse to me, you are a mystery Just like a dream, you are not what you seem Just like a prayer, no choice your voice can take me there

Just like a prayer, your voice can take me there Just like a muse to me, you are a mystery Just like a dream, you are not what you seem Just like a prayer, no choice your voice can take me there

Just like a prayer, I’ll take you there It’s like a dream to me Just like a prayer, I’ll take you there It’s like a dream to me Just like a prayer, I’ll take you there It’s like a dream to me Just like a prayer, I’ll take you there It’s like a dream to me

I must confess, I found the tune was very catchy… but like much pop product out there, not edifying in the least. To what does she refer? She alone could tell you that. The safer conclusion to draw is what she cannot possibly be referring to: The true Lord God of the Bible. He is neither a mystical force nor the puppeteer “like a child” whimsy she describes. Jehovah is neither a muse nor a dream. Let’s not even start with the taking of His name in vain. At best, this song is a mix of incoherent mystical babble, at its worst, it’s a sensualized caricature of God of blasphemous proportions. My view is that there are bits of pop out there that are harmlessly fun – for example, her Caribbean-sounding “La Isla Bonita” was a fun song. Not spiritually uplifting per se, but not evil either.

Constant Change by Scott Harker

Constant Change,
a song by Scott Harker

I’d like to know
What’s going on in your mind,
Find the time,
To say what’s percolating.

I’d like to see
What’s flowing in your heart.
Won’t your start
Communicating?

Then we will say
That it’s okay –
And share an orange.

Our eyes will meet,
How sweet,
In understanding.

The wind will blow
The sun will shine,
We’ll enter a
Whirlpool in time,

And know the power of the weather:

Constant Cha-a-a-a-ange,
Constant Cha-a-a-a-ange,
Constant change,
Constant Change,
Constant Cha-a-ange!

Poet’s Note: You can hear this song, by clicking the play button below. This is my first attempt to record this, it is a little rough. I will try uploading a better version latter…

All about real Hip Hop – Street Poetry and Music

One of the greatest forms of entertainment is music. For music is a unique way to touch the heart of a human being. Music is attached to our lives in many ways.

Not every type of music is preferred by all humans. For different segments of people, we can find various kinds of music. Hip Hop is one of the popular forms of music today for a large segment of listeners. Music lovers all around the world rate hip hop music very highly. It is not the oldest form of music, but people like it anyway.

The unique style and images of hip hop music, make it popular, not only in USA, but all around the world. The introduction of hip hop music was not so long ago. While introduced in the sixties, it was in the early seventies when this music began to be noticed. Many people believe hip hop was a combination of West African and African American music.

In the early period, in the Bronx, hip hop music was mainly played at block parties. But as it became extremely popular in these parties, people started to think about performing hip hop music in other places. By the mid 1980’s, musicians were playing hip hop music in discos.

In the beginning, hip hop music was mostly a verbal track of street poetry with a remix of popular songs in the background. But original music tracks soon followed to accompany the verbal track, and a huge craze was created among music lovers.

Today hip hop is a very popular form of music. Millions of copies of hip hop music are sold every year. In spite, of all the controversies created by hip-hop artists, they are still growing in number. It is one venue where poetry is alive and commercially viable!
